Somewhere in New Jersey, I found my way into a courier service that lead me to where I am with computers today (with very little to boast about). My interest in computers was inspired in my desire to be a writer, and back in 2000, I was looking to own a word processor. It was then that computers offered more than just writing stories, and I found myself wanting to know how to master this new machine and all its uses (back in 2000). When my routine as a courier was through, and with the permission of my manager, I would spend hours on a computer assigned to me for the work of being a courier. I quickly emmersed myself in understanding Microsoft Office, and applying it to scheduling, and reports for my daily routine.
Later, my interests kept expanding into email and exchange services, and I was always a step behind with what was always improving. Later, there would be understanding of wireless routers, along with switches and hubs. Then, came the internet website building. In between this night time self teaching, my advancement from courier position lead me into networking, and I was now studying network servers, and the internet in general.
Like everything in life, I never sat or focused on just one specialty, and when it came to computers, I could go from one experience to another, and it was typically all related to work. They only thing that still remained the same was that I was always “a jack of all trade, and a master at none”. What kept it real and tangible was that I could always relate the computer to other tasks and activities everyone does in real life, and explaining what I was doing from time to time opened a new door to trying to find something others do in real life and compare it to this virtual world. In that thought comes my plans to build courses in comparing the virtual world with everyday living. And the story goes on from there…
